NEWTOWN slipped to a five wicket defeat at home to Worfield in the Shropshire Premier League.
In a rain interrupted game the hosts posted a meager 80 to defend before weather forced delays left Worfield with a revised target of 69 from 37 overs in reply.
Town would endure a miserable day with the bat with openers Dai Brown and Steve Davies sent back in the pavilion cheaply.
Brown was bowled by Ian Simmons (1-16) for five before Davies was caught by Bryn Simmons off Calvin Priest for five.
Hamish Harding looked to revive the home innings but was let down by the middle order as Sam Cooke (12) and Jack Morris (1) completed the haul of Priest (3-24).
James Parker (2-4) made light work of Ally Laird (1) and John Anthony, bowled for a duck, before Harding was joined by Chris Bound for the seventh wicket.
The pair added 18 runs to the scoreboard before Harding was snared LBW by Matthew Rees for 21.
Rees (3-20) completed his haul with Dave Anthony trapped LBW for a duck before Bound was caight by Iain Anderson for 19 to leave Newtown defending 80.
Despite David Anthony dismissing Tom Pickerill for a golden duck in reply, the visitors were soon making inroads into their target.
Surviving opener Harvey Gilks (15) was joined by Harvey Sage (6) in a 25 run second wicket stand before both departed after being trapped LBW by Jonathon Davies and John Anthony (1-16).
Davies (3-30) delayed the inevitable with the wicket of Anderson (12) before Bryn Simmons was caught by Bound for a duck before Joe Arnold (10no) and Ian Simmons (9no) guided Worfield to glory in the 21st over.
