Dean Keates  has not ruled out adding two more players to his squad in the next 48 hours.

The Wrexham boss has made four new signings since the end of last season, left-back James Jennings and striker Chris Holroyd the latest players to complete moves to The Racecourse on Tuesday.

Offers have been made to more targets and Keates remains hopeful they agree in the coming days or early next week.

“There is a possibility of maybe two more by the end of the week but it is still up in the air at the moment,” said Keates.

“There are one or two more offers out there still and we will see what happens over the next few days into next week.

“All being well it happens, we will just wait and see.”

Keates, who has also recruited James Hurst and Shaun Pearson this summer, is pleased to have completed so many new signings before the end of May.

“We have put offers out there and done a couple early,” said Keates.

“They are the ones that we want in the building and I am glad that they have decided to join us.

“I am more than happy with what has happened so far and hopefully we can add some more over the next few weeks.”

Jennings made 15 league appearances after joining Wrexham on loan from Cheltenham Town in January and he has signed a permanent two-year deal following his release by the League Two club.

Holroyd scored 14 goals last season for Macclesfield, who he joined in the summer of 2013, and Keates believes the duo are key signings that have plenty to offer on and off the pitch.

“It is not just a case of getting them in because they are good players,” said Keates.

“They are the right characters and they tick all the boxes on what we want in the building.

“Everybody knows about James and all the homework that we have done on Chris, on the football side, he is perfect for us.

“All the reports I have heard about him off the field and what he is like in the changing room, he is the perfect match for the football club.”

Jennings, brother of former Wrexham captain Connor who is currently plying his trade at Tranmere Rovers, jumped at the chance to make his stay at The Racecourse permanent.

Holroyd counts Chester City, Cambridge United and Preston North End among his former clubs and Keates believes the 30-year-old possesses a superb all-round game.

“The reason I got Chris in was I loved how versatile he is,” said Keates.

“He is intelligent, he comes off into great areas, he knows when to stretch the game and he knows when to come short into pockets, and he links up play really well.

“I am looking forward to working with him.”

Keates also has four players under contract from last season, with Mark Carrington, Leo Smith, Chris Dunn and Paul Rutherford all part of his plans for the 2017-18 campaign.

Scholar Olly Marx, who made seven starts after Curtis Tilt was allowed to join Forest Green Rovers on loan in March, has been offered a first professional contract.

Keates remains hopeful that the 18-year-old centre-back puts pen to paper and continues his development at The Racecourse.

“Olly has had the offer and we are still in negotiations with his agent,” said Keates.

“All being well Olly will be joining us, he is still a part of the football club and we still see a massive part of his development being done here.

“Olly is 18-years-old and he has already got seven competitive first team games under his belt, and I think he is at the right football club for his development to go forward.”
