ESCLUSHAM A really like spending their time at the top of the Wrexham League.
Last season’s champions are the first Premier Division leaders of the current campaign following an 11-1 opening day derby triumph over their B team.
Owen Jackson (21-5) was top block for the champions, as Thomas Coppell grabbed the B team’s only win.
Also enjoying positive starts were Cunliffe A (Arwel Davies 21-1) and Gresford Village A courtesy of 10-2 outcomes over Northop Hall and Brymbo respectively.
Bradley A (Ricky Davies 21-4) got the better of Gresford Colliery A (Kevin Nicholas 21-1) 9-3.
There were also a pair of 9-3 triumphs in Division One action for Parciau A and Cunliffe B.
Rio Bailey (21-8) helped Parciau to success over Coed Talon for whom John Bonatti (pictured below) was a 21-3 winner.
Cunliffe defeated Bersham A while it finished 8-4 in favour of Gate Hangs High against Gresford Village B and that was also the outcome in the win for Pentre Broughton A (Kay Newell 21-6) over Coedpoeth.
The early season leaders are Llay A (Gareth Hughes 21-0, Mark Turner 21-4) courtesy of their 10-2 triumph over Garden Village A.
The Chester and District League rolled into action on Monday with Sychdyn and Mancot picking up 8-4 home wins in Division A.
Sychdyn (Shaun Williams 21-2) beat Aston A while Anthony Bellis (21-6) starred in Mancot’s victory over Penyffordd and Penymynydd.
Coed Talon (Jack Richards 21-12) edged out Ledsham 7-5 where the aggregate scored ended all square.
Farndon also triumphed 7-5 at St Werburghs.
Pen and Pen’s B team impressed in Division B where Scott Egerton (21-8) was their top block in a 10-2 victory over Tarvin.
Cuddington (Tony Stubbs 21-7) beat Barrow 9-3, Burton and Puddington were 7-5 winners over Celts while it ended 6-6 between Gladstone (Helen Wood 21-10) and Connah’s Quay B (Ken Bloxham 21-5).
Hoole Oaks, Argoed and Tower Fields were all 9-3 winners in Division C.
Tower Fields’ Keith Fuller (21-5) starred against Tower Wharf, Argoed’s Ian Belton (21-10) did the business against Mancot Nomads while Hoole impressed at Westminster Park.
Upton (David Fletcher 21-7) triumphed 8-4 at Aston B while Tarporley were also 8-4 winners against Hargrave and Huxley.
All 11 cup ties in the Wrexham Veterans League on Tuesday were called off due to waterlogged greens.
