A WREXHAM pub has confirmed its under new ownership following months of searching for the right opportunity.

The Red Lion Indian, Marford, will soon reopen the site under new ownership following two food hygiene scores of zero in just five-months.

Wigan-based management company OV- Group is delighted to announce the start of its operation in north Wales. It currently has 80 employees across eight sites in the north West and England.

In December 2023, it was announced the pub would receive new management following a disappointing zero food hygiene rating score. However, this plan sadly fell through due to unforeseen circumstances.

On March 6, the Indian received yet another score of zero, its second low rating in just five-months.

The announcement of new ownership is fantastic news for the pub and local community.

Operations Director Jordan Dempsey and Managing Director Reece Kilcoyne set up OV-Group back in 2021.

Jordan said: "We have an outstanding track record in taking under performing and closed community locals and putting the heart back into the community and this is something we aim to do at The Red Lion in Marford.

"We will open our first community local in the Village of Marford later in the month; we can’t wait to put our stamp on the place and take the same love that we have brought to Wigan, Bolton & Chorley to the Green land of Wales.

"We will bring a fresh and welcoming feel to the venue by making an investment into the interior of the pub as well as outside, a place for its community to value and love again."

The pub aims to be open and trading for the end of May bank holiday.
