A HISTORICAL group is appealing for family of those named on a Flintshire war memorial to get in touch.
110 years since the start of the First World War, The Buckley Society is in the process of compiling a book telling the stories of the 139 casualties named on the Buckley War Memorial at Hawkesbury.
The main source is Flintshire War Memorials (flintshirewarmemorials.com), where various researchers have compiled the accounts of each soldier.
Commemorated in 1951, the memorial originally featured 114 names for the Great War. Since then researchers have discovered an additional 25 casualties.

These were added along with 11 others involved in other conflicts in April 2020 by Blackwell's Stonecraft as part of a major refurbishment.
The society now welcomes any descendants to contact them with further information on their relative, so the record can be as complete as possible. They are especially interested in any information regarding William Owen, James Roberts or James Wright.
