WREXHAM have already booked their place in League One but Elliot Lee wants to play in the final two games so he celebrates being ever-present during the League Two promotion-winning campaign.

Phil Parkinson's men thrashed Forest Green Rovers 6-0 last Saturday to secure a top-three finish ahead of tomorrow's clash against local rivals Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road and the final day home match with champions Stockport County next weekend.

Lee is the only player who has featured in every league game this season and while it is job done in terms of clinching a second promotion in a row, the playmaker is not on summer holiday mode just yet.

The 29-year-old only missed one game during the 2022-23 season when Wrexham secured the National League title - he was absent for the 2-1 win at Bromley due to illness - and is eager to complete the full-house this time around.

"It is something I am really proud of," said the attacking midfielder, who arrived at The Racecourse from Luton in the summer of 2022.

"It is tough, it is not easy playing every game. The body gets tired, the travelling and the mental fatigue as well but I would never complain about playing every game.

"I have been out of squads in the past and not played football. I love playing football for Wrexham and it is a pleasure to play every week.

"I am buzzing that I have played every game so far and I am looking forward to finishing it off in the next two."

Lee has scored 16 goals and been recognised for his efforts after being named in the League Two Team of the Season.

After a blistering first half of the season, only three goals have come since the turn of the year but it's all about the team as far as Lee is concerned.

"The goals haven't gone in for me in the second half of the season like they did in the first half but look at the form of Paul Mullin and look at the form of Andy Cannon," he said.

"We are a team. I said when the goals were going in for me that if I didn't score another goal, I didn't care if we get promoted so I am a happy man."

There could be another accolade for Lee who has been nominated for the League Two Player of the Season award.

Lee is up against Mansfield Town star Davis Keillor-Dunn, who had a brief spell at Wrexham in 2020, and Notts County’s Maltese international winger Jodi Jones for the gong he insists success with the Reds comes before personal recognition.

"It is a great feeling to be nominated and be one of three people in the league. It's a very proud moment for me," added Lee.

"But if I'd have won all the individual awards I could have done and we didn't get promoted, then I have not really done my job.

"I couldn't celebrate all that with the team if I won personal awards but we didn't achieve what we set out to achieve as a team.

"That was always my main focus, achieving promotion with a great group of lads and staff, and have days and nights to remember for the rest of my life which I wouldn't have done if I'd only won individual awards.

"The individual awards have never been something I focus on, it has always been getting this club promoted and enjoying these moments."
