JACK MARRIOTT won't forget the day Wrexham clinched automatic promotion.

The striker came off the bench and scored the final goal in the 6-0 victory against Forest Green Rovers at The Racecourse which secured a top-three finish in League Two.

That was Marriott's first goal since joining for an undisclosed fee from Fleetwood Town in the January transfer window.

A League One Golden Boot award winner whilst at Peterborough United, it was also the first time that Marriott has won promotion in his career, making it a good day all round for the 29-year-old who turned home James McClean's low cross.

"It was a really big day for the club and to put my own personal mark on it as well was really pleasing," said Marriott.

"You want to do your best for the team whenever you are called upon and to finally be rewarded with a goal was pleasing.

"It was an incredible moment for the club and I am very proud to be a part of it.

"That was my first promotion. I lost in a play-off final at Wembley and got close a few times so this means a lot.

"It was a really special moment and something that will live long in the memory."

Parkinson was delighted to see Marriott, who penned a deal until the end of the 2024-25 season, get off the mark.

"It was a great moment for Jack to come off the bench and score" said the Reds' boss.

"He has worked tirelessly in the games he's played but the moments haven't come.

"You have got to keep plugging away making the right runs as a striker and it came for him so all the lads were delighted for him. That sealed the victory for us."
