A POULTRYMAN from Flintshire died due to alcohol abuse, an inquest heard.

Danny John Coles of Maes Yr Afon, Holywell, died at Glan Clwyd Hospital on November 8.

The cause of death was given as bleeding of the oesophageal varices and cirrhosis of the liver.

Mr Coles’ partner Jane Helen Edwards told the inquest at Mold Crown Court that he was born in Aldershot and spent some of his childhood in care because his parents had problems with alcohol.

Miss Edwards said she knew Mr Coles, 41, had a problem with alcohol and had been known to drink up to eight cans of beer a day.

Mr Coles, who was a poultryman, fell ill in October and was admitted to Glan Clwyd Hospital, in Bodelwyddan, in November.

He deteriorated quickly and died on November 8.

Miss Edwards said: “He was wonderful with my children, he was very patient.

“He will be sadly missed.”

North East Wales coroner John Hughes recorded a verdict of abuse of alcohol.

He said: “It’s a very, very sad state of affairs and I express my sincere condolences.”
