A MAN who knowingly engaged in sexual activity with a young girl has been locked up.
Jamie Fraser, of Pinetop Close in Manchester, appeared at Mold Magistrates Court for sentence on Thursday afternoon.
The 27-year-old had pleaded guilty at a previous hearing to four counts of penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged under 16.
Mark Connor, prosecuting, told the court that Fraser met his victim in the Flintshire area and over a period of months he engaged in multiple sexual acts with her.
His offending came to light after the defendant himself called 999 in 2022, telling them he wished to "report a matter."
The call handler was told Fraser had been in a relationship with a young girl and had been prompted to call the emergency line due to fears for his safety after others had become aware.

He made admissions to the call handler at that point that he believed the girl's age to be under 16 - and the court heard he had indeed had known her age from the outset.
Mr Connor said during the entirety of the offending, Fraser had met his victim at least a dozen times for sex.
In her statement, read to the court, the victim said Fraser's behaviour had left her feeling "worthless and used," and that it had impacted on her mental health.
Duncan Bould, defending, told the court: "One matter I am going to urge the court to consider - there is obviously a disparity in terms of the chronological age of the victim and defendant.
"But my dealings with the defendant only encourage me to conclude that there are features of immaturity in his case which may have affected his behaviour.
"Probably his most important mitigation are his guilty pleas.
"There isn't an entrenched pattern with him - he doesn't appear to have any particular interests which may cause the court concern that are relevant from his background."
Proceeding to sentence the defendant, The Honourable Mr Justice Nicklin KC quoted from a pre-sentence report which had been compiled about him.
In it, the author stated Fraser had "limited insight" into the offending and its impact on his victim.
He had shown "little" remorse for his actions despite being fully aware of the girl's age, it added.
"You pose a high risk to [the victim] specifically," the Judge told the defendant, "and pubescent girls generally."
Fraser received an overall jail term of seven-and-a-half years.
He will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order and notification provisions for life.
A restraining order was put in place for ten years to protect the victim.
