A MAN has died following a road traffic collision in a layby on the A483 in Wrexham, police have confirmed.
The incident occurred southbound between J4 (Ruthin) and J3 (Croesfoel) at about 1.20am on Friday (January 19).
Police say it involved a collision between a blue Ford Transit Connect van and a Heavy goods vehicle (HGV) parked within a layby.
The emergency services attended, however the driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin and the coroner have been informed.
The road is expected to remain closed for a number of hours as police conduct forensic collision investigation work. Latest updates are available here.
Sergeant Alun Jones from the North Wales Police Roads Crime Unit is appealing for witnesses. He said: “Sadly this is now being investigated as a fatal road traffic collision and our thoughts are with the man’s family at this very difficult time.
“We are urging anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or anybody who may have been travelling along the A483 in the vicinity of Wrexham and who may have dash cam footage to contact us.
“The road remains closed to allow the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit to carry out their initial investigation and we’d like to thank everyone for their patience.”
