A STRETCH of the A55 in Flintshire is set for months of disruption as major roaworks take place.

Traffic Wales has said it will be undertaking essential work to repair and replace the underlying concrete bays and resurface between Junction 36 (Broughton) and the border between England and Wales.

Works will begin later this month on the eastbound side of the carriageway followed by westbound.

Before the main works, junction 36A Broughton Retail Park slip roads will also be repaired and resurfaced.

The work will start on January 26 and it is expected to be completed by March 25.

The programme of work is as follows:

Preparatory works

January 26 - January 29:

Junction 36A Broughton retail park eastbound on-slip and lane closed overnight from 8pm.

February 2, 5 and 6:

J36A Broughton retail park westbound off-slip and lane closed overnight from 8pm-6am.

February 3 from 6am until 6am on February 5:

J36A Broughton retail park westbound off-slip and lane closed for 24 hours.

Main resurfacing works eastbound 

Overnight weekday closures, weekend closures and daytime lane closures 

February 11 - February 23:

A55 closed overnight eastbound from junction 36 Warren Interchange to junction 36A Broughton retail park from 8pm-6am every weekday night.

From February 23 at 8pm to 8pm on February 25:

A55 weekend closure eastbound from junction 36 Warren Interchange and junction 36a Broughton Retail Park.

February 25 from 8pm to 6am on March 3:

A55 closed overnight eastbound from junction 35 Dobshill to junction 38 Posthouse.

There will be also be daytime lane closures between February 12 and March 2.

These dates are subject to change and are dependent on the weather. Further programme details regarding westbound closures will be released two-three weeks in advance.
