NORTH Wales Police are advising Flintshire residents to follow safety advice following a burglary.
Police have received a report of burglary from a property in Oakenholt, Flintshire.
On the North Wales Police Community Alerts page today (December 28), police say access was gained to a garage and power tools and a mountain bike were stolen.
Police are now encouraging local residents to consider the following security advice to reduce the chance of others becoming victims of similar incidents.
- Physically check garage doors are locked when leaving the property unoccupied.
- Consider purchasing a "Garage Door Defender" these act as a visible outdoor lock which are anchored to the floor and stop garage doors from being prized open.
- If you keep power tools in the garage, ensure they are in a tool box which is locked with a good quality padlock.

- If you keep bikes, motor bikes or scooters in your garage, consider purchasing floor anchors and a good quality chain to feed through the wheels and onto the floor anchor.
- Never leave your garage door wide open when you are not in the garage! This may seem obvious but to opportunist thieves this is an open invitation for them to strike!
- Consider purchasing SmartWater to forensically mark property. This allows marked items to be trace back to the owner should they be found.
