DRIVERS were warned of 'heavy congestion' on the A55 in Flintshire after a car caught fire this afternoon (September 5).
The incident had been affecting the road between junction 31 at Caerwys and junction 32 at Holywell in the eastbound direction.
Junction 31 was 'temporarily closed' as a result as emergency services attended the scene.
An eyewitness told the Leader that a car caught fire but 'everyone in the car has been evacuated'.

A initial statement from Traffic Wales posted at 1pm read: "A55 Eastbound J31 Caerwys - J32 Holywell. Heavy congestion in the area due to police incident . Please allow additional time for travel."
An update moments later added: "Eastbound J31 Caerwys now temporarily closed due to vehicle fire."
Lane two was re-opened as of 1.25pm, but it remained 'busy' in the area at that time.

An AA Live Traffic update added: "Queueing traffic and traffic heavier than normal on A55 North Wales Expressway Eastbound at J31 (Caerwys)."
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Police have been approached for further comment.
The road was fully re-opened at around 2.35pm as the incident was cleared.
