AN INAUGURAL awards do recognising some of Wrexham's community heroes provided a 'room bursting with positivity', according to its organisers.

The F Jones Initiative was originally established by Wrexham Lager and F Jones Food Service.

The team has been highlighting some of Wrexham's most selfless people with a series of monthly awards for a while now.

Among the recipients have been the likes of Aaron Aby, a fighter diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at just two weeks old and who has also overcome stage three cancer later on in life.

On Sunday, March 5, the F Jones Initiative team held its first ever awards night at Maesgwyn Hall in Wrexham.

Judges and presenters on the night were Wrexham AFC executive director Humphrey Ker and TV presenter Sian Lloyd.

First prize went to Peter Humphreys in recognition of all he has achieved at the Yellow And Blue Hub.

Second prize was awarded to Macy Williams in recognition of her Change by M_W page.

And third prize was handed out to James Abbot and Matthew Simmonds for their heroism in rushing into a burning building with no thought of their own safety, to save the lives of others.
