FIRE crews have been called to a bus fire in Halkyn.
Residents overlooking the road described smoke billowing from the engine compartment of the bus.
One resident said the bus was due to take children from Ysgol Rhos Heleg on a trip but the driver smelled smoke.
The bus is currently parked opposite the school
The driver pulled the bus to the side of the road and stopped. When the rear engine cover was opened smoke billowed out and flames could be seen.
Residents described seeing the driver tackle the fire with an extinguisher from inside the bus and another from the school. A passing driver then stopped to assist and the fire was put out.

However, the fire was out when they arrived.
The bus is still at the scene.
Fortunately, the children at the school were unaware of the incident.
Headteacher Gareth Roberts said the school was informed that the bus had engine problems and a second bus was sent out.
The children are currently enjoying their trip to the World Museum in Liverpool.
