ONE of the region’s flagship festivals is promising new attractions later this year.

Mold Food and Drink Festival is set to return to New Street Car Park for the 12th year on Saturday and Sunday, September 16-17.

The festival, which last year attracted more than 13,000 people, will once again boast food and drink producers, celebrity and local chef demonstrations, cookery workshops, and live music.

John Les Tomos, festival chairman said: “We are looking forward to another brilliant festival this year.

“It is really encouraging for us to see what an incredibly successful event it continues to be, attracting both regular and new visitors year-on-year.

“The festival has definitely contributed to establishing Mold, and indeed Flintshire, as a foodie destination and boosted not only the food visitor economy but also the wider local economy too.”

Ticket prices will be higher this year, at £7 for an adult ticket. Mr Les Tomos said: “With the ongoing demise of funding creating real financial pressures, we have had to take the decision to increase stall and admission prices but, at £7 for an adult ticket, this still offers our visitors exceptional value for money and is still cheaper than, or on a par with, similar food festivals.

“As always, we are looking at how we can develop the festival to offer visitors something new to see and do.

“We are currently working on ideas for a number of new attractions which we will announce in due course.

“The festival is highly respected amongst food producers and every year we receive incredibly positive exhibitor feedback, with many saying it’s the best show they do.” Mr Les Tomos said that while last year they increased the amount of space for exhibitors, they are now very close to maximum capacity.

He said: “We have already received over a hundred bookings and we’re urging any local producers to apply and secure their space as soon as possible.

“We would also be interested to hear from businesses in the area who are looking to raise their profile and could take advantage of the unique marketing opportunity that the Festival can provide.

“We can offer a range of exciting sponsorship opportunities and anyone interested is invited to contact us to discuss further.”
