A COMMUNITY football club is appealing for help in upgrading its rundown facilities.
Mold Alexandra FC was formed in 1929, growing out of the Mission Church team of the 1920s.
But Alyn Park, home of the current Welsh National League champions, is in need of refurbishment as the club prepares to begin the new season in the Cymru Alliance having won promotion last season.
Mold Alex FC vice chairman Gary Austin said: “As a large and still growing club, we need a lot of storage space for our kit, match and training equipment and maintenance equipment.
“We currently have a very old mobile unit for a cafe, and a mobile unit and a couple of freight containers for storage but they have all been in place for many years.
“Despite ongoing repairs, they are in very poor condition and no longer afford the protection or space required.”
Mr Austin says the club, which has three senior teams and 14 junior teams ranging from six to 16-years-of-age, is in desperate need of replacements and additional units.
It is appealing to businesses and individuals who could help them upgrade after missing out on funding due to the fact the club does not have a minimum five year lease on its Alyn Park ground.
“We’d be very grateful if there are companies or individuals who could donate a unit or make one available at a cost significantly below the market value once its use is completed on a project,” Mr Austin said.
He added Mold Alex FC would be able to offer benefits to anyone able and willing to help.
The club has previously staged fundraising events for motor neurone disease, breast cancer and Nightingale House Hospice.
Anyone who may be able to help is asked to call Mr Austin on 07738 888182, or club chairman Barry Couchman on 07867 728415.
