WREXHAM players are revved up and raring to go tomorrow.

That’s what Reds boss Phil Parkinson had to say in the build-up to their League Two clash with Colchester United at The STóK Cae Ras (3pm kick off).

The players had a couple of days off after last Saturday’s clash at Forest Green Rovers was called off due to a waterlogged pitch and reported back for training in great shape.

“They had days off but came back and looked refreshed in training,” said Parkinson, whose side begin a run of five games in 16 days against a Colchester side who are struggling in the bottom three.

Promotion-chasing Wrexham are second in the table and six points behind leaders Stockport County after the first 20 games of the season.

Parkinson’s side have taken 23 points from 10 home games with their only league loss in front of their own fans a 5-3 defeat to Milton Keynes Dons on the opening day of the season.

The Reds are averaging more than three goals a game at home where fans will be able to see the new temporary stand before it’s grand opening for the Newport County match on December 23.

Reds midfielder James Jones is looking forward to the festive fixture list where Wrexham also have trips to Swindon Town and Walsall and a home clash with Barrow on New Year’s Day.

“It is a busy period coming up but we play games - that’s the job,” said Jones, who insists players will be focused during the party period.

“It’s important everyone does the right things away from the club.

“The club is good for managing what we need to do and being on top of it.”
